WALT; write a non chronological report
Remember to use:
- an opening paragraph explain what your report is about.
- headings and subheadings for the main body.
- an closing paragraph, recapping on what you have written.
- Pictures, maps etc with captions to explain what they are.
Remember to use faction not opinions.
The Mighty Gorilla
Gorillas need your help. They are endangered and time to save these amazing animals is running out! They live in forests in tropical Africa and are our closest living relative.
What do Gorillas look like?
The gorilla is huge, with a broad chest and shoulder, all covered in muscle. Their arms are longer than their stubby legs. All gorillas are covered in a black shiny coat. They have hands that are human like and can be used to pick up food and to give hugs. The fully grown adult male mountain gorilla is twice as large as the female.
What do Gorillas eat ?
Most gorillas are herbivores,which mean they mainly eat plants. The food gorillas eat is 67% fruit, 17% seeds, leaves and stems,and 3% is Termites and Caterpillars. The male Gorillas can eat up to 20 kgs of food a day that's like half a child's body weight!
Where is a Gorilla’s habitat ?
Gorilla’s are found in Africa. Some gorillas live on green volcanic mountains up 10,000 feet where it is cloudy and cold. Others live in luscious forests where it is warmer. All gorilla’s move around depending on how much food is in the area.
How do they behave ?
Gorillas usually live in a troops of 1-4 silverback male gorillas and several females and children. The oldest and strongest Silverback males gets picked to be the leader as they are the most dominant! They spend their days playing,eating and grooming each other. At night they nest in trees,using leaves as a mattress to sleep on.
Concluding paragraph.
I think Gorillas are amazing animals and we need to show care for them, after all they are our most close relatives. We are there kaitiaki (guardians) after all. We need to start saving these remarkable endangered animals. I hope you have enjoyed my report on gorillas.
